Can you coast up a hill?
Entrepreneur and Thryv President & CEO Joe Walsh recently asked a crowd of small business owners and software power users this question at Thryv’s first-ever entrepreneur conference, Connect19.
The obvious answer is, “no.” But you can probably guess there’s more to the story.
In “Winning on Main Street” Episode – Joe Walsh Connect19 Keynote Address, Joe shares how he built himself (and a few businesses) from humble beginnings.

A Sneak Peek
Small business owners know best that building a business doesn’t come easily. Consumers are in charge, and their expectations are evolving quickly. But according to Joe, big businesses aren’t the only ones up to the challenge.
“Expectations of consumers are rising. We expect to watch a little car to drive to us, get in it, ride to our destination, get out, and not even pay…just walk away. We expect to be able to deal with businesses anytime of the day or night and have them respond right away to us.
All of these expectations are rising, and small businesses don’t have any of these tools. They’re working longer and longer hours, and they’re up against bigger national and regional companies that have teams of marketing people using all these tools to target them. It’s a completely unfair battle.”
