Did you know 82% of businesses that fail cite cash flow as a main factor in their failure? It’s unfortunate, considering the many positive effects small businesses have on the U.S. economy.
- Small businesses account for 99.7% of all employers.
- They also make up more than a third of known U.S. exporting value.
- 67% of every dollar spent at a small business stays in the local community.
That’s why the SBDC is ready to help small businesses overcome the most common challenges…so they can keep doing great things.
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) works with the Small Business Administration to encourage small business growth. There are about 1,000 SBDCs across the U.S. and its territories.
Just in time for SBDC Day #SBDCDAY March 18, 2020, we recently spoke with Thryv friend and SBDC leader Mark Langford on the “Winning on Main Street” podcast.
A Sneak Peek
“Small business is key to America’s economy and growth. It’s kind of like apple pie. Everyone wants to be associated with small business, see people start businesses, create jobs, and grow the economy.”
According to Mark, the SBDC does more than finance small business.
“The problem is, a lot of times people think they need a $50,000 line of credit to get them through the next 6 months. But when we sit down with them… you find out that the last thing they need is another $50,000 in debt. What we do is talk to them about the business itself.”
