The Local Search Association (LSA) has honored former Dex CEO Peter McDonald with a Lifetime Achievement Award. A 40+ year industry veteran, Peter left retirement to drive the merger of Dex One and SuperMedia and generate growth in the company’s print and digital portfolios. He also contributed to the industry by serving as chairman and vice-chairman for LSA.
“Peter’s contributions to the industry are legendary, and his passion for helping small business is an inspiration for all of us,” Joe Walsh, CEO, said. “We congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.”
Peter still consults with Dex and remains active in the local search industry.
“There may be no one who has had a greater impact on the industry over the last four decades than Peter McDonald,” Neg Norton, LSA president, said. “Yet Peter is driven not only to succeed but to be remembered as someone who cared.”
Peter J. McDonald has over 40 years of experience in the yellow pages industry. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Dex Media, Inc. from April, 2013 to October 2014. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of SuperMedia Inc. from December 2010 to April 2013 and as Interim Chief Executive Officer at SuperMedia before that. Peter served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of R.H. Donnelley Inc. from October 2004 to September 2008.
Peter also served in many other senior executive positions at Dex, SBC Directory Operations, Donnelley Media, a division of R.H. Donnelley, Ameritech Publishing’s Yellow Pages business, the Yellow Pages Division of SBC Communications, Inc., DonTech Publishing, Donnelly Information Publishing, and National Telephone Directory Corporation.
He has also served on the boards of Dex Media, Inc., DCCI, SuperMedia Inc., and ModusLink Global Solutions, Inc. He served as the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Local Search Association for a number of years.
